MICROCAPSULE OF SULFUR AND ITS PRODUCTION

PURPOSE:To uniformly disperse sulfure in rubber while preventing the blooming of sulfur to the surface of unvulcanized rubber, by forming a microcapsule of sulfur by encapsulating sulfur by a cured epoxy resin. CONSTITUTION:An epoxy resin is dissolved in an org. solvenet with b.p. of 100 deg.C or less and sulfur is dispersed in the formed solution. The obtained dispersion is injected in a protective colloid-containing water under stirring to be emulsified therewith and the curing agent of the epoxy resin is subsequently added under stirring. The resulting composition is further heated under vacuum while stirring is succeeded to evaporate the org. solvent and the residual microcapsule is filtered and dried to prepare a microcapsule. As sulfur, any sufur used in a rubber compound can be used and it is especially pref. to prepare the microcapsule by using soluble sulfur.
