PURPOSE:To provide a printer capable of printing on an unprocessed paper, detecting the position of the paper with high accuracy and printing with less misregistration, by printing a position-detecting marker on a recording paper. CONSTITUTION:Prior to transfer recording in the first color 4a, a marker ink coated part 4d is transferred onto the recording paper to provide a paper marker 3a. The paper 3 is fed in the direction of arrow A, the marker 3a is detected by a sensor 5, and at that position, the timing of transfer recording in the first color 4a is set. After the printing is over, the paper 3 is fed in the direction opposite to the direction A, and the marker 3a is again detected by the sensor 5. A thermal ink sheet 4 is fed in the direction of an arrow B (opposite to the feeding direction of the paper 3) up to the position of the second color 4b. According to a detection signal from the sensor 5, the timing of transfer recording in the second color 4b is set. Then, transfer recording in the third color 4c is similarly conducted. Accordingly, a paper not processed for detection can be used, and accuracy of detection is high and stable, so that misregistration is reduced. |
