NEW MATERIAL:A phosphatidylcholine type polymerizable phospholipid of formula I (n is integer of 5-11; l is integer of 13-21). EXAMPLE:1-0-[ 11-(p-Vinylphenoxy) ]undecanoyl-2-0-alkyl-rac-glycerol-3-phospho cho-lline. USE:A starting material for prepariang microcapsules: since it has a styrene nucleus of high photopolymerizability, it can form microcapsules by photopoly merization. PREPARATION:A carboxylic acid derivative of formula II is activated with a carboxylic acid activator such as dicyclocarbodiimide, then the activated compound is allowed to react with a glycerol derivative of formula III, usually in a solvent such as anhydrous THF at 0-30 deg.C. The resultant condensation product is allowed to react with 2-chloro-2-oxo-1,3,2-dioxaphosphorane in the presence of triethylamine and trimethylamine.
