PURPOSE:To reduce the size of circuit with maintaining the function of phase synchronization, by executing a specific calculation using two direct crossing factors against the sampling phase of color burst signal and the objective phase signal and its complement signal. CONSTITUTION:A phase difference calculation circuit 20 inputs a phase control signal S bit by bit to a sequential data selector 21, and controls the selection action for the input data X, Y according to the contents of serial data, and adds the selection outputs with the contents of a latch circuit 24, and further multiply the result by 1/2, and keeps its results at the latch circuit 24. And using two direct crossing factors (X=P1), (Y=P2) against the sampling phase of color burst signal, the phase control signal S which has the objective sampling phase information, and its complement signal -S, a circuit 20 executes the calculation X.(-S)+Y.S.
