PURPOSE:To effect reciprocation of a carriage and rotation of a platen by a single drive source, simplify control of operations of the drive source and contrive a reduction in manufacturing cost, by disposing an intermittent transmission means between the carriage and the platen. CONSTITUTION:Where the carriage 4 is reciprocated as desired by the drive source 20, the intermittent transmission means 44 ensures that the platen 2 is not rotated while the carriage 4 is moved forward but the platen 2 is rotated in the direction of an arrow 42 while the carriage 4 is moved backward. Therefore, there is no need for a separate drive source for intermittently rotating the platen 2 as desired. In addition, by rotating the drive source 20 forward and reversely in a predetermined manner, it is possible to reciprocate the carriage 4 as desired and to intermittently rotate the platen 2 as desired. Accordingly, control of the operation of the drive source is extremely simple. |
