PURPOSE:To shorten the time from the start operation to the start of reproduction, by moving a pick-up in high speed to the starting position other than the inner or outer circumference of the disc, and rotating the disc with the rotation speed of the starting position, and moving the pick-up to the specified address and starting the reproduction. CONSTITUTION:A variable resistor 21 is so adjusted as to output the voltage that a pick-up 4 is located approximately at the center of the track area of a disc 1, and the voltage corresponding with said position is outputted from a potentiometer 19. Therefore, its difference is outputted to a comparator 20, and supplied to a slider survo circuit 23. And the slider motor 24 transfers rapidly the pick-up 4 towards the radius direction of the disc 1 until a difference signal becomes zero. The disc 1 is rotated at the regular speed at a specified position, and CPU calculates the difference between the present position and a specified position and transfers the pick-up to the specified position.
