PURPOSE:To enable recording speed to be enhanced, by providing at least two rays of heating resistors on a substrate. CONSTITUTION:Three arrays 3 of heating resistors are provided on a ceramic substrate 2 of a thermal head 1, the front and rear arrays being projected more than are the central array so that the distance from the array to the peripheral surface of a platen roller 9 is the same for all of the arrays. In order that the difference in the projection quantity is small, the diameter of the roller 9 is set to be large. To separately drive the arrays 3, three driving ICs 4 are provided side by side. Recording is conducted by inserting a thermal recording paper 10 between the arrays 3 and the roller 9. Since 3 lines can be simultaneously recorded by the three heating resistor arrays 3, the feeding step of the paper 10 can be trebled, and the recording speed can be thereby trebled. |
