PURPOSE:To enable a format to be easily formed through repeated use of a plurality of set vertical tabs, by providing a means for automatically correcting an initial position in accordance with the position where a vertical tab key is depressed, and a means for automatically outputting a carriage-returning and line-feeding data on the basis of information on the set tab positions. CONSTITUTION:When setting a plurality of vertical tabs, a vertical tab setting mode is designated from an input part 1, whereby a display part 8 displays guidance. A cursor displayed on the display part 8 is moved to a vertical tab setting position, and a vertical tab setting key on the input part 1 is depressed, thereby designating a tab setting. A vertical tab controlling part 5 reads from a cursor-controlling part 7 the information on cursor position at the time the setting is designated, and stores the information into a set tab position register 6. By repeating the operations, a plurality of vertical tabs can be easily set on a line basis. In addition, once the vertical tabs are set, it is possible to form a continuous format by designating repetition. |
