PURPOSE:To obviate the exfoliation of plating layers and to improve remarkably wear resistance and life by forming the spacific plating layer on the surface of a roll and applying and ion implantation method to such plating layer. CONSTITUTION:Microruggedness 3 sized 0.5-2mum is provided to the surface 2 of the roll 1 and is subjected to Cr plating to 10-50mum thickness thereon. The plating layer is subjected to ion implantation of N, Ii, Co, C, Cr, etc. The exfoliation of the plating layer is thus obviated and the wear resistance and life are remarkably improved. Ni is then plated 31 on the surface of a roll 30 to 10-50mum thickness and Cr is plated 23 thereon to 10-50mum thickness. The Cr plating layer is similarly subjected to the ion implantation. The perfor mance in this case as well is remarkably improved. Particles 42 of carbide or oxide are dispersed into one kind among Cr, Ni, Co and the alloy thereof and the plating 41 of 10-50mum thickness is applied on the surface of a roll 40. The plating layer 41 is similarly subjected to the ion implantation. |
