In a marine platform assembly (10), Fig. 1 (not shown), platform (12) is supported above the surface of the water by buoyant columns (16), propellers (22) mounted on each column selectively impart upward or downward thrust to their respective columns and sensing means, in the form of gyroscope (28) mounted on the platform (12) and an accelerometer (30) in each column(16), control the direction of thrust imparted by each of the propellers (22) so that the platform is stabilized for roll, pitch and heave. When surface action of the water imparts pitching, rolling and heaving movement to the platform gyroscope (28) and accelerometers (30) feed appropriate signals to the respective motor control units (32), each of which then feeds a control signal to motors (24), thus energizing each motor (24) in the forward or reverse directions, or not at all if a zero signal is fed. In an embodiment the propeller blades are mounted in a rotating collar (38), Fig. 2 (not shown). In a further embodiment, Fig. 3 (not shown) the propeller blades are mounted to drive water into or out of tanks within columns (18) to increase or decrease the buoyancy of the respective columns.
