PURPOSE:To define a color pallet so that a color on a part to be emphasized in an original image becomes the center and to obtain a computer image faithful to the original image by specifying a partial area of a video signal read out from a memory displayed on a monitor image receiver. CONSTITUTION:An analog video signal outputted from a video signal source 2 is converted into a digital signal by a digitizer 31 in a video processing circuit 3, its one field part is stored in an one-field memory 32 and its read-out still image is displayed on a monitor image receiver 4. An output read out from the memory 32 is transmitted to a microcomputer 1, which forms a color image corresponding to the still image read out from the memory 32. The formed color image is displayed on an image receiver 4 by turning a switch 33. A partial area of the video signal displayed on the image receiver 4 is specified by an area specifying means 11 to define the color pallet so that a part to be emphasized in the original image becomes the center.
