PURPOSE:A dispersion stabilizer that contains, as active ingredients, a polyether or its derivative resulting from an alkylene oxide addition and a nitrogen- containing compound, thus permitting a carbon powder to be dispersed in water and transported through pipe lines. CONSTITUTION:The objective dispersion stabilizer contains, as active ingredients, (A) a polyether compound or its derivative which is prepared by adding alkylene oxides containing ethylene oxide as an essential component to a compound bearing at least one active hydrogen atom in a molecule other than polyamines and (B) a nitrogen-containing compound consisting of an amine and/or an amide. The content of ethylene oxide in the total alkylene oxide is 50-100wt% and the molecular weight of component A is preferably 5,000-200,000.
