In the case of a multi-cell accumulator battery, the plate stacks in the cells are provided with in each case two pole links and with in each case one connecting bolt on each pole link. The prefabricated battery cover is provided with openings (which are allocated to the connecting bolts) and a potted lead bush in the wall of each such opening. In addition, it has potted cell connectors and end-pole shafts in order to make it possible to pass power between two cells of the accumulator battery via in each case one connecting bolt of these cells and in order to make it possible to pass power between the end-pole shafts and the adjacent connecting bolt of an end cell. The connecting bolts are passed through their associated opening in the battery cover, and there is a welded joint between the lead bush in the wall of each opening and the connecting bolt.
