PURPOSE:To improve the brake effect by fixing the stator in the range lower than coupling point while rotating freely in higher range and rotating freely under braking. CONSTITUTION:A controller 14 is comprised of a microcomputer having an interface circuit 16, a processing unit 17 and a memory 18 where signals are fed from engine rotation detecting means 21, released accelerator detecting means 19 and brake condition detecting means 20 to the input side of the interface circuit 16. The processing unit 17 will calculate the speed ratio (e) to tighten brake means 6 if (e) is lower than a speed ratio (ec) corresponding with preset coupling point while to release if (e) is higher than (ec). The brake means 6 is controlled to released condition under the braking condition where the brake pedal is further stepped.
