PURPOSE:To almost nullify generation of heat in an electromagnetic valve, by securing a holding force with use of a permanent magnet, and not energizing a coil at all times, but applying a pulse current to the coil only upon opening and closing of the valve. CONSTITUTION:In a liquid chromatography wherein plural kinds of eluate are selected sequentially or alternately through an electromagnetic valve to create a concentration gradient of the eluate, electromagnetic valves 3 and 4 include electromagnetic coils 3A and 3B opposed to each other and a permanent magnet 21 coaxially interposed between both the electromagnetic coils 3A and 3B with each gap defined between the same and the coils 3A and 3B. A movable member 22 is mounted at a central portion of the permanent magnet 21, and a diaphragm valve 34 is mounted to one end of the movable member 22. The diaphragm valve 34 is opened and closed by the movement of the movable member 22.
