PURPOSE:To enhance accuracy, by providing a counter for counting the pulse signal from a radiation detector, a processor for performing the operation of a numerical value and input/output control, memory for storing a program and a display device for displaying a counting rate. CONSTITUTION:A digital rate meter has a counter 5 controlled by a timer 4, a processor 7, memory 9 for storing a program and data and a control data bus 8 for giving and taking a control word and data. The pulse signal inputted from a preamplifier 2 is counted for a definite time by the counter 5 controlled by the timer 4. Next, a counting rate Ri is calculated by the counting rate calculation algorithm stored in main memory 9 by using the count value Xi. By this rate meter, each counting rate can be accurately measured when a counting is stable and a time constant can be measured small when the counting rate changed.
