<p>Flexible cork laminates, for use in mfr. of shoes, leather goods, book covers and domestic articles, are made by (a) washing woven or mesh fabric of natural or synthetic fibres to remove sizes or surfactants; (b) coating the fabric with one or more layers of polyurethane or PVC material contg. additives, stabilisers and pigments; (c) applying rectangular cork sheet of 15 x 30 cm size and 0.02-1.2 mm thickness to the coated fabric; (d) heating at 45-250 deg.C under 1-7 atm. pressure for 0.05-10 mins.; and (e) buffing and polishing the cork surface.</p> |
