In a thermally controlled electric switch having a metal housing 1 which screws into the wall of a container, so that the switch is immersed in the medium therein, a moving contact 14, mounted on a bent lever 12 is moved into engagement with a fixed contact 21 by a bimetallic disc 4 snapping into the position shown in dotted lines when the temperature of the medium reaches a predetermined level. A leaf spring 16, adjustable by a screw 22, is attached to the lever 12 and a radial arm 7 on a circular plate 6, held in the housing 1, by a pin 10, the conical end 10<SP>1</SP> of which engages the disc 4; the spring 16 serves to oppose the snapping over of the disc, thereby altering the temperature at which this happens and also aids in resetting the switch when the temperature drops. The arms 13, 17 of the lever 12 and leaf spring 16 respectively, are longer than the arms 11, 15 so that a small movement by the pin 10 from the disc 4 becomes a larger movement at the end of arms 13.
