PURPOSE:To obtain a pattern recognizer which is free from the effects of the position and revolving angle of a pattern as well as the complicated processing, by obtaining an index N of a pattern to be recognized and selecting a proper range of difference of the N. CONSTITUTION:A pattern to be recognized is supplied to a feature extracting part 10 and converted into a bit pattern. The part 10 consists of an image pickup device and a binary coding circuit which binary codes the video signal sent from the image pickup device. The output of the part 10 is supplied to a Van der Pol oscillator circuit 12, and the natural frequency (fa) of the circuit 12 is supplied to a collation part 14 where a data memory part 16 is included. Then the part 14 collates the frequency fa of the pattern to be recognized with frequencies f1, f2... of patterns stored in the part 16. Then the pattern to be recognized is specified within a proper range set between large and small categories and in response to the difference obtained from said collation. |
