PURPOSE:To attach a video head without adjusting by finishing superprecisely the attaching surface of a head substrate to a rotary drum and working the attaching surface so that the height from a reference bottom face of the front end part of a head chip is dimensions within a prescribed dimension tolerance where the head substrate can be attached directly to the rotary drum. CONSTITUTION:A head substrate lap finishing lower face 2a of an attaching surface S of a head substrate 2 to a rotary drum 4 is worked and finished superprecisely to have a prescribed attaching height (h) so that the lower face 2a has prescribed exact tolerance dimensions to a head chip front end part reference face 1b. The attaching surface S is finished with <=1mu absolute value of dimensions and <=0.05mu flatness. Thus, a video head H is attached without adjusting.
