PURPOSE:To obtain a color toner having superior triboelectric charge characteristics and heat fixability and capable of stably forming a high density color image having high quality with no fog by using a specified vinyl polymer as a binder resin and adding the metallic complex of alkylsalicylic acid. CONSTITUTION:The vinyl polymer having a mol. wt. distribution in which it has at least one maximum in each of two region; the low mol. wt. region of 10<3>-5X10<4> mol. wt. and the high mol. wt. region of 10<5>-10<6> mol. wt. is used as a binder resin. A chromatic colorant and the metallic complex of alkylsalicylic acid represented by general formula I as a charge controller having a negatively charging function are sidpersed in particles of the binder resin to obtain a color toner. Other additives are further added as required. In the formula, each or R1-R6 is H, 1-8C alkyl or -OR7 (R7 is 1-5C alkyl), each of A and B is -O- or -COO-, Me is Co, Ni, Cu, Cr or Fe, and X<+> is a cation. |
