PURPOSE:To prevent cap cracking etc. of an electrode pole caused by corrosion, to realize a longer service life, by attaching a liquid absorbent cloth or unwoven fabric around the electrode pole, and covering to unite them with a thermal- contractile tube. CONSTITUTION:Around an electrode pole 2 of a lead storage battery, a liquid absorbent cloth or unwoven sheet 1 of an acid-proof and anti-oxidation fiber is attached, and covered by a thermal-contractile tube 3 to unite the electrode pole 2 and the cloth or sheet 1 to be an integral electrode pole member 5. The liquid absorbent material 1 is, for example, a glass fiber containing alkali, with means diameter of 0.7, with the thickness of 1.0mm, and without binder or the like. And, as a holding member 3 to unite the liquid absorbent member 1 and the electrode pole 2,a thermal-contractile tube made of polyethylene is used. Then, after the liquid absorbent member 1 is attached to the electrode pole 2 of the prearranged electrode plate group, the holding member 3 is placed around them and contracted by an air heating (120 deg.C) to make a united electrode pole member 5. |
