PURPOSE:To enable a book-binding process to be carried out automatically according to a method wherein an intermediate sewing unit is operated by an input signal required for book-binding and set by a ten-key, when the sheets delivered from the feeder are folded one by one halfway down their length, and then their folded edges are fitted to the base of a stitcher for intermediate sewing. CONSTITUTION:This bookbinder comprises a control section A, feeder B, a folder C, a collator D, a sewing section E, a binding section F and a stacker G. The sheets supplied continuously from the feeder B are folded halfway down their length by rollers 6 and 7 at the folder C and piled up on by a conveying roller 14 at the stacker trays 52, 54 where the sheets are positioned by rotating rollers 40, 45. A stitcher 59 at the sewing section E is activated, upon reception of a signal indicating the value preset on the ten-key pad at the control section A has matched the number of sheets supplied from the feeder, to sew the sheets into a book form. The sewn book is then dropped into the stacker G. |
