PURPOSE:To read accurately recorded signals in the state where an optical disc has no flaws, by rotating a polishing member relatively to the surface of the optical disc and polishing the surface of the optical disc to eliminate flaws. CONSTITUTION:An upper case 16 is opened, and a compact disc 1 is placed on a turntable 11 so that the surface of flaws is turned up, and the case 16 is closed, and a polishing element 6 is brought into contact with this surface, and a power switch 14 is turned on to rotate a motor 13 for a certain time. The rotation of the motor 13 is trnasmitted by gears 12a-12g to rotate the table 11 and the element 6 of a polish plate 18. By this rotation, the element 6 itself is rotated, and the table 11 is rotated to rotate the disc 1, and the polishing element polishes all of the surface of the disc 1. Thus, flaws on the disc 1 are eliminated, and recorded signals are read out accurately in this state.
