PURPOSE:To prevent generation of trouble by detecting length of sheet and by eliminating the sheet without winding the sheet when the length of the sheet is more than the fixed length. CONSTITUTION:When manuscript 1 is provided to the paper feed roller 3a, 3b and the timing roller 4a, 4b, the sensor s1 and sensor s2 judge if length of the manuscript 1 is more than the fixed length. That is, in case that only the sensor s2 works, usual action is taken by judging that manuscript 1 less than the fixed length is inserted, and or in case that the sensors s1, s2 work together, an eliminating action is taken immediately by judging that the manuscript more than the fixed length if such condition remains unchanged after detecting if such a condition continues for the fixed time. Thus, if the manuscript whose length is more than the fixed one is inserted, the manuscript is eliminated without being wound over the drum. Therefore, even if the sheet of more than the fixed length is inserted by error, the trouble caused by the eliminating action can be prevented in advance because it is eliminated immediately.
