PURPOSE:To avoid any malfunction in photodetection regardless of a trouble with one element by a method wherein, within an image sensor composed of multiple sensing elements to be a photodetecting part wired in parallel, the photodetecting part corresponding to a picture element is composed of connected components in series comprising at least two each of sensing elements closely arranged. CONSTITUTION:The first photodiodes 10, the second photodiodes 20 and blocking diodes 30 are connected in series to compose a photodetecting part corresponding to a picture element. Next, three sets of these diodes are lumped together to connect the terminals of diodes 10 to a power supply battery 5 through the intermediary of split switches 3 while the terminals of blocking diodes 30 are connected to a load resistor 6 respectively through the intermediary of segment switches 4. Through these procedures, the photodetection current of multiple photodiodes may be received as a picture image signal per segment so that normal signals may be received in the constant dynamic range regardless of a trouble generated in one diode.
