PURPOSE:To enable to easily vary the quantity of a molten ink material adhered and transferred and therefore to easily record a continuous gradation, by varying the quantity of heat applied from a thermal head to the ink material. CONSTITUTION:A recording medium 200 and a thermal transfer recording sheet 100 are opposed to each other, are pressed between a platen 600 and the thermal head 500, and an electric current is passed to a heating element 501 in the head 500, whereby a coloring material on the sheet 100 at the parts thus heated is transferred onto the medium 200, thereby performing recording. By varying the quantity of heat applied from the head to the sheet 100, the quantity of the molten ink material adhered and transferred can be easily varied, and accordingly, a continuous gradation can be easily recorded. |
