PURPOSE:To dehydrate the titled sediment with good working efficiency and at low cost by giving vibration to the sediment discharged from a factory site, etc. to compact the sediment, and removing the separated water by absorption into a highly water absorptive resin. CONSTITUTION:A highly water absorptive resin obtained, for example, by graft- polymerizing acrylic acid on starch is used. The resin is capable of absorbing water 100-1,000 times its weight. The grains of the highly water absorptive resin are packed into a bag body 2 having water permeability, strength, and weather resistance, and used. The bag body 2 is placed, for example, on the surface of water-contg. sediment 5 loaded on the load-carrying platform 4 of a dump truck. The water-contg. sediment is compacted by the vibration produced during the transportation. Consequently, the water separates and rises, and is absorbed by the highly water absorptive resin. The sediment is dehydrated in this way.
