PURPOSE:To enable supercharging into a main combustion chamber to be carried out securely and effectively by fixing both a main cylinder and an auxiliary cylinder on one shaft and coupling together a main piston and an auxiliary piston sliding inside the respective cylinders by means of a connecting rod. CONSTITUTION:A main cylinder 1 and an auxiliary cylinder 2 are fixed on one shaft. A main piston 3 and an auxiliary piston 4 sliding inside the cylinder 1 and cylinder 2 respectively are coupled together by means of a connecting rod 5. A cylinder chamber on one side is defined as a main combustion chamber 7 and the same on the axially opposite side is defined as an auxiliary combustion chamber 18. Explosive combustion takes place in the main combustion chamber 7 and the auxiliary combustion chamber 18 alternately. A pump chamber 22 is formed on the side, facing the main cylinder, of the auxiliary cylinder 4. Reciprocating power of large output can be obtained from an output shaft 6 in this way, so that secure and effective supercharging may be applied to the main combustion chamber 7. |
