PURPOSE:To improve the reliability of the titled apparatus and to save the labor of control by controlling automatically and appropriately the treating conditions in response to the variation of the amt. of untreated water and to the variation of the water quality. CONSTITUTION:The patterns such as the flow rate pattern and the water quality pattern due to the changes of influent untreated water with the lapse of time, the injection rate pattern of chemicals at every water quality, and the sludge discharge pattern of a settling vessel 18 from the patterns cited above are stored in an arithmetic control unit 24. A regulating vessel 2, a conveying pump 4, a flocculant vessel 5 as a flocculating and mixing vessel, and the settling vessel 18 are arranged in series in a flocculating sedimentation apparatus. The normal operation of the flocculating sedimentation apparatus is thus automated, and automatically controlled under appropriate conditions by correcting each pattern in response to the wide-ranging variations of the flow rate and water quality. The treatment is also stabilized, the reliability of the apparatus is improved and the labor for control can be saved.
