PURPOSE:To reduce steam that makes a white smoke source and is generated in a desulfurizer by a method wherein the heat recovered from combustion exhaust gas is used as the thermal energy to heat boiler feed water to save steam blown into a deaerator. CONSTITUTION:Combustion exhaust gas 2 at 180 deg.C is supplied from the boiler 1 into the low temperature feed water preheater 12 containing many heating pipes 13. Water is supplied from the water tank 9 into the heating pipe 13, heated by exhaust gas to 74 deg.C and run into the deaerator 11. The exhaust gas is cooled by the preheater 12 down to 129 deg.C and run into the purifier 3. If water is added to the exhaust gas to remove sulfuric acid in the gas by washing in this purifier, the gas is cooled by water down to 54 deg.C. In this case, steam is blown by the steam heater 5 into the exhaust gas 4 to rise the temperature of the exhaust gas up to 66 deg.C. A portion of the steam 7 generated in the boiler is used, blown in through the piping 8 and the difference between the heated temperatures is about 12 deg.C. therefore, remarkably small amount of steam is sufficient enough.
