NEW MATERIAL:A compound shown by the formula I [one of X and Y is COOR (R is 1-6C alkyl) and the other is group shown by the formula II]. EXAMPLE:2-{N-[ (4,6-Dimethoxypyrimidin-2-yl)aminocarbonyl ]amino-sulfonyl methyl}-3-thiophenecarboxylic acid methyl ester. USE:A herbicide. Controlling selectively harmful weeds growing especially in paddy fields with a small amount of herbicide without providing paddy rice plants with phytotoxicity. PREPARATION:A compound shown by the formula III [one of Z<1> and Z<2> is COOR group and the other is (aminosulfonyl)methyl] is reacted with a compound shown by the formula IV (R<1> is alkyl, alkenyl, or phenyl) in a solvent such as dimethyl ether, etc., at 0-80 deg.C optionally by adding 1,8-diazabicyclo[5,4,0]-7- undecene, to give a compound shown by the formula I. |
