PURPOSE:To carry out the detection of frosting with high precision to follow after external air temperature environments and prevent the idle defrosting operation from being carried out to prevent the number of times of defrosting and the defrosting time from increasing by changing and an external air temperature, and emitting a defrosting instruction is accordance with the set zone corresponding to the defrosting operation time and the external air temperature. CONSTITUTION:The defrosting control of the air conditioner is performed by an external air correction device 17 which divides the temperature difference into predetermined zones depending on the value of the detected temperature of an external air temperature sensor 14 and applies temperature difference setting signals corresponding to respective zones to a temperature difference detector 15, and a defrosting time detector 19 which detects the defrosting operation time. In the defrosting operations at the second time and downward, the value of the defrosting operation time is given from the defrosting time detector 19 to a controller 18 whereby the controller emits a defrosting operation instructions to loads such as a four-way valve, an outdoor fan and the like at the temperature difference set value in accordance with the defrosting operation time. As described above, an appropriate defrosting control can be carried out in accordance with the change in the external air temperature.
