METHOD FOR DESILICONIZING MOLTEN PIG IRON UNDER PRESSURE

PURPOSE:To remove efficiently Si from molten pig iron while preventing the combustion of C in the molten pig iron by pressurizing the molten pig iron by the internal pressure of a blast furnace, adding a desiliconizing agent to the upstream side of the molten pig iron, and carrying out spontaneous mixing. CONSTITUTION:The atmosphere in a hermetically sealed space 8 in a pig iron charging spout 7 is pressurized by making use of the internal pressure of a blast furnace 1. A desiliconizing agent 13 is added to the upstream side of molten pig iron 3 in the pressurized atmosphere. Si in the molten pig iron 3 is oxidized and removed while the combustion of C in the molten pig iron 3 is prevented.
