The invention relates to a WC flushing cistern having a discharge valve and a device for defined part-emptying and total-emptying (2-stage flushing). The valve is opened by a lever mechanism which effects a separate actuation for the purpose of part-emptying and total-emptying. The part-emptying is carried out by an additional weight or by a spring and a float which, corresponding to the quantity of water to be discharged, is fastened midway on the valve body. The additional weight is mechanically controlled by the lever mechanism such that it exerts a load on the valve body during part-emptying, but not during total-emptying.
