A fuel control device for an internal combustion engine comprises a fuel feed device for controlling the fuel feed to the internal combustion engine, a first operating element, which is mechanically connected to the control device and thereby serves for controlling the fuel feed, a second operating element and a coupling which mechanically links the first and the second operating element in such a way that provision is made for either their joint or separate movement. A sensor determines the position of an accelerator pedal for the engine, controlled by an operator, and a control device responding to the sensor delivers an output as a function of the accelerator position sensed by this. A drive device, which causes the movement of the second operating element, responds to the output of the control device.
