The invention relates to a signalling line with a number of fire detectors connected to a signalling conductor (5). In this arrangement, a fire detector in each case consists of a detector base (1) and a detector insert (2). In one of the fire detectors of a signalling line, the detector insert is replaced by a test insert (2). In addition to the usual fire signalling devices, the test insert (2) also contains a special resistor (29) which corresponds to the terminal resistance of the signalling line. The result is that in the event of a wire break in the signalling conductor (5), the signalling line remains operable up to the location of the wire break.
