A filling valve for a gas fuelled lighter comprises a hollow sleeve 12 mounted in a wall 10 of the fuel reservoir and a second sleeve 16 slidably movable outside sleeve 12 and urged in its stable position by a spring 15 to close an exhaust passage 18, or U-section sealing ring 17 being fixed to the top of the second sleeve to make the seal, the arrangement being such that a stepped operating member 100 inserted in the sleeve 12 during filling causes the sleeve 16 to move down against spring 15 opening passage 18. The lower end of second sleeve 16 is closed by a cap 19 which contains a valve member 23 urged in its stable position by a spring 22 to close the lower end of sleeve 12, the seal being effected by a sealing ring 24 fixed to the upper end of the valve member 23. Pressure on the member 100 will cause valve member 23 to move down against the action of spring 22 and allow fuel to pass through lateral bores 102 in attachment 100 and opening 21 in cap 19 into the reservoir. Increased pressure on the fuel container will cause the second sleeve 16 to move against spring 15 and open exhaust passage 18.</p> |
