1,152,261. Fluid-pressure servomotor systems. BELL AEROSPACE CORP. May 20, 1966 [May 24, 1965], No.22447/66. Heading G3P. A device for monitoring the position of a pilotoperated spool valve 63 comprises a flapper 73 having one end fixed at 75 and the other end 77 in contact with a land 78 on the spool. The flapper is sufficiently flexible as to be bowed by the force of the jet issuing from a nozzle 72. If the spool moves the flapper nearer to the nozzle, the increased pressure upstream of the latter distorts the flapper away from the nozzle thereby providing negative feedback. The flapper may be caused to oscillate continuously by the jet or may be damped, e.g. by holes (94, Fig. 7 not shown) provided in the flapper in the region of the jet. In an alternative embodiment, Fig. 2 (not shown) the flapper is made less flexible except for a portion (29) thereof opposite the nozzle. In Fig. 4 (not shown), the nozzle is spring-loaded towards the flapper and responds to the output pressure to provide negative feedback, In Fig. 8, flapper 102 is pivoted at 106 and negative feedback is provided by piston 114 acting on lever 116, the latter also being pivoted at 106.
|
