In a palletising device or depalletising device, the pallet has racks arranged one above the other whose spacing is variable. The spacing between the upper side of a rack loaded with a pile and the underside of the rack located above it is greater in the spaced-apart state than the height of the pile. In the pushed-together state, the underside of the upper rack rests in each case on the upper side of the pile situated below it. Such a device allows both automatic loading and automatic removal of the pallet. Additionally, it ensures that the paper tubes or sections of paper tubes stacked in this manner do not become displaced during the palletising time.
