PURPOSE:To obtain a detector of simple construction available for detection on a large magnitude of displacement, by installing a metallic sheet provided with an oblique side in an opposed manner to other metallic sheet, connecting one of them to a displacing member and detecting an opposing area of both sheets. CONSTITUTION:A metallic sheet 6 provided with the No.2 oblique side 6b relative to the No.1 side 6a and other metallic sheet 5 are arranged one against other. And, one of these sheets 5 and 6 is brought to a relative movement by connecting it to a straight displacing member and an area of opposing parts of the sheets 5 and 6 is detected for detection of a displaced magnitude. A change of the opposed area of both metallic sheets 5 and 6 may be detected as, for instance, the change of electrostatic capacity. By this arrangement, detection on a large displacement becomes available or a compact detector can be manufactured, or easy choice of detecting sensitivity can be achieved.
