In wire processing, the changeover from an emptied container to a full one is made possible by an automatically controlled pivot arm. The changeover is initiated by a sensor arranged between the containers. The pivot arm moves the guide mechanism for the wire from one container axle to the next, preferably pneumatic drive elements being used.
