PURPOSE:To apply a tension to an optical fiber at all times thereby obtaining a connected section where a core is not bent when molding is effected, by using, as a clamp of a mold for an optical fiber core, protectors through which the optical fiber core is passed with a clearance between the optical fiber core and the protectors. CONSTITUTION:After optical fiber cores 5 are fused and connected, the connected section is set to be located at the middle section of a mold 1. Protectors 3 comprising metal pipes through which the optical fiber cores 5 are inserted are located at the setting section of the mold 1 and are clamped by the top force and the bottom force. One of the optical fiber cores 5 that is outside of the mold 1 is clamped by a fixing clamp 8, and the other of the optical fiber cores 5 is clamped by a tension applying clamp 7, so that the optical fibers 6 are given a prescribed tension at all times by a spring 9. With this state kept, an epoxy resin is loaded and molded to obtain a connected section. |
