PURPOSE:To provide an alpha-cyanoacrylate adhesive useful as an instant adhesive with flame retardance, by adding a specific amount of a brominated hydrocarbon or a chlorinated-brominated hydrocarbon to an alpha-cyanoacrylate adhesive useful as an instant adhesive. CONSTITUTION:(A) An alpha-cyanoacrylate shown by the formula (R is 1-16C alkyl, alkenyl, cyclohexyl, etc.) is blended with (B) 10-150pts.wt. (preferably 40-150pts.wt.) based on the component A of (i) a brominated hydrocarbon (e.g., tribromoethylene, tetrabromoethane, hexabromobenzene, etc.) or (ii) a chlorinated-brominated hydrocarbon (e.g., dibromo-dichloroethane, bromo- dichlorobenzene, etc.) having preferably >=200 deg.C boiling point.
