发明名称 ELECTROCHROMIC ELEMENT
摘要 PURPOSE:To obtain an electrochromic element which vanishes perfectly color and has superior durability by forming a two-layered counter electrode consisting of a layer contg. Ir, Ir oxide or hydroxide dispersed as a dispersoid in a transparent, electrically conductive and solid dispersion medium and of a transparent and electrically conductive layer and by specifying a cation feeding source. CONSTITUTION:A transparent and electrically conductive layer D2 is formed on a glass substrate, and a transparent dispersed layer D1 consisting of Ir2O3 as a dispersoid D11 and SnO2 as a dispersion medium D12 is formed on the layer D1 by the high frequency ion plating of a metallic Sn and Ir in an O2 atmosphere. A transparent and ionic conductive layer C is formed on the layer D1 by the vapor depsotion of Ta2O5 in the presence of O2. A transparent, amorphous and electrochromic (EC) layer B of WO3 or the like is formed on the layer C, and an opaque electrode layer A of Al, Ni or the like is formed on the layer B to obtain an EC element. Since the layer C conducts H<+> and OH<-> and does not conduct electron, color developed in the layer B is retained even when the application of voltage is stopped, and a memory effect is produced. The color is vanished by applying voltage opposite to the voltage for color development and equal to it in level. The resulting EC element has superior durability even at high temp. and gives a high-contrast display.
