PURPOSE:To improve the efficiency of data transmission totally by counting an error number of a transmission data in a line control section of a transmission/reception terminal station and changing the length of a text data transmitted when the count exceeds a prescribed threshold value. CONSTITUTION:A data (b) being combination of two texts is inputted froman MODEM 2 of a telephone line through a reception circuit 12 after the start control of RS (transmission request) - CS (transmission enable replay) at reception. The two-test combined data is inputted to a transmission control section 13, the number of errors is counted by an error counter 21 and stored in an error status circuit 22. If the error count number is a prescribed value N possible for correction or below, the two-test combined data is fed to a text edition section 14 and the text is stored in a text buffer 15 by the control of a main control section 16. When the error count is a prescribed value N or over, the error count number is stored in the error status circuit 22, the RS-CS is applied once more to the two-text combined data for retrial and when the number is N or over, the error is detected from each text and when the number is a prescribed value or over, the error is subject to retrial.
