PURPOSE:To prevent a butting end part of each ceramic body from damaging, by attaching an annular ring fitly to an outer circumference of each of upper and lower ceramic bodies partitively forming a subchamber, while installing an annaular concave part in an inner circumferential surface of the annular ring corresponding to a butting surface of each ceramic body. CONSTITUTION:Each of upper and lower ceramic bodies 25 and 26 is butted and inserted into a hole 21 of a cylinder head 20 whereby a subchamber is partitively formed there. And, the upper ceramic body 25 is provided with a fuel injection port 31 and an insert hole 32 for a glow plug, while the lower ceramic body 26 is provided with a nozzle hole 30 interconnecting a main chamber 29 and the subchamber 28. At the above-mentioned structure, a metallic annular ring 33 is attached fitly to an outer circumference of each of these ceramic bodies 25 and 26, forming a solid subchamber structure. And, corresponding to a butting surface 34 of each of these ceramic bodies 25 and 26, an annular concave part 35 is formed on an inner circumferential surface 33a of the annular ring 33. With this constitution, if each of butting end parts 36 and 37 of these ceramic bodies 25 and 26 is projected outward, they are in no case butted to the inner circumferential surface 33a of the annular ring 33. |
