PURPOSE:To attain transmission of a message without decreasing transmission efficiency even in case of reading originals placed with no unification of original placing direction and transmitting the read image signal by providing an original length supervising section and a write/read means. CONSTITUTION:When an original is inputted, it is changed photoelectrically by a read section 1 and outputted image signals are stored in succession in an accumulative section 2 toward the scanning direction through an original length supervising section 3 and a write/read means 4. In case of reading the image signals accumulated and stored, the means 4 performs read in order at writing (in scan order at photoelectric conversion in the direction straightly crossed in a main scanning at photoelectric conversion on the basis of a signal fed from the section 3. Next, the read image signal is sent out to a code section 5 for coding to be sent to a transmission section 6 performs the modulation of the coded image signal, etc. to transmit a message. Thus, even if the originals are place with no unification of the placing direction, it can be transmitted without decreasing efficiency of transfer by providing the section 3 and the means 4.
