PURPOSE:To print a character on a fixed printing paper such as a document by setting an origin and printing areas in the longitudinal and lateral directions. CONSTITUTION:An origin is decided, and dots are counted and stored in a memory means whenever a cursor shift key is depressed. The lateral and longitudinal directions are set to one bot and four dots, respectively. The cursor shift key is depressed the moment a control key is pressed, and the sequence is repeated. In case of the longitudinal direction, when a cancel key on a keyboard 1 is depressed, the counted value is cleared in an RAM 5 and returned to the origin, therefore the printing area is again set from beginning. When a set position is decided, an execution key is pressed to store coordinates X and Y on the file of a floppy disk 4. When the storage is terminated, the cursor on a CRT 6 is shifted to the next line and enters the printing position setting operation. At this time, if a line feed key is depressed instead of the cursor shift key, the coodinates X remains, while those Y move by 24 dots, whose line is stored on the document file 13 of the disk 4. Printing positions of all subsequent lines are set in the same sequence.
