PURPOSE:To perform the attaching position adjusting work quickly and accurately by adjusting the attaching position of a magnetic head to a carrier while detecting a reference signal for test from a magnetic recording medium for test by the magnetic head. CONSTITUTION:A magnetic head 11 is held between holding arms 21a and 21b of a holding mechanism from both side faces. The reference signal for test recorded on a magnetic recording medium 27 for test is detected by the magnetic head 11 and is displayed on a cathode-ray tube display pat 31 through an amplifier 30, and individual motors of the holding mechanism are so rotated and controlled that the signal satisfied conditions, thus adjusting the position of the magnetic head 11 to the magnetic recording medium 27 for test. Since relative positions of the magnetic recording medium 27 for test and a carrier supporting body 9 are set correctly by initial adjustment, relative positions of the magnetic head 11 and a carrier 10 attached to the carrier supporting body 9 are adjusted correct positions. An adhesive is charged into a minute gap between the magnetic head 11 and an attaching face12 of the carrier 10 to fix the magnetic head 11 to the carrier 10.
